ABOUT INNATE
Why Innate exists
Innate began in 2023, after more than a decade of work across child protection, mental health, trauma recovery and the NDIS. In those rooms, one thing kept proving true: people can't think their way out of what their body learned to survive. Insight matters, but it lands only when the nervous system feels safe enough to take it in.
Innate was built around that. It is a practice that steadies before it digs, and that treats the body as a source of information rather than a problem to fix. It also understands that what we carry rarely starts with us.
How We Work
EMDR:
a structured therapy for processing traumatic memory, with careful preparation first.
Attachment-informed therapy:
understanding how early relationships shaped the way you connect, cope and parent.
Psychoeducation:
plain-language understanding of what your nervous system is doing and why.
Somatic and body-based therapy:
working with sensation, breath and movement alongside thought.
Parts work:
making space for the different, sometimes conflicting, parts of you.
What We Believe
Symptoms are adaptations.
Hyper-vigilance, shutdown and people-pleasing once kept someone safe. We meet them with curiosity, not correction.
Patterns travel through families. So can repair.
What was handed down can be understood, reworked, processed, and passed on differently.
Regulation comes before insight.
A settled system can make sense of things a flooded one can't.
You set the pace.
Healing that is rushed tends not to hold.
